Pantene Leaves a Wax Coating on your Hair!?

About a year ago my roommate comes over to me and says, "Hold still!". Then she grabs a few strands of my hair and starts trying to scrape upwards in an effort to find a wax coating on my hair. She knew that I loved and always used Pantene and so she thought I'd for sure have a wax coating on my hair. Well, what inspired this, a little bit off the wall behavior? She saw a video of a hair stylist using some metal tool to scrape upwards on some lady's hair, showing how much wax build up she had on her hair, and it was supposedly due to using Pantene products. Is this true? Or was it just a little bit of slander thrown around about Pantene? Well let's find out!

After lots of research, most of my sources (professional and just from posts of random hairdressers), I've found that Pantene does leave a silicone coating on your hair. Now, some (fewer sources) say that, that silicone coating isn't bad for your hair. But other sources (most sources) and hair dressers disagree. They say that that silicone coating is really bad for your hair and in one case was even the cause of a lady's hair getting chemically burned.

The Beauty Brains say, while it does leave a coating on your hair it's actually good for your hair. It seals in the moisture and actually protects your hair!

But then, Confessions of a Cosmetologist says, that this silicone coating from Pantene is bad. They say that while that silicone coating may make your hair look nice and healthy and shiny at first, over time its going to make your hair look dull and harder to manage and style.

So, in my own, unprofessional opinion, I'd say ditch the Pantene (as I look in my shower at the Pantene shampoo and conditioner sitting there). I've used Pantene my whole life! I don't like spending too much on my shampoos and conditioners, but I will say my hair constantly goes through stages where it does feel more waxy or oily and it's harder to manage. Usually, at that point I'll do an apple cider vinegar cleanse or use a Paul Mitchell Sugar Cleanse shampoo, which I have LOVED!

This leaves me thinking I'm going to use the rest of my Pantene but unfortunately, move on to another shampoo and conditioner. TJ Maxx here I come!!
